Saint Sophia's Cathedral in Kiev is one of the oldest monuments of Rus' culture, as the creation of the temple dates back to the beginning of the eleventh century. The temple is crowned with thirteen green and gold domes, whereas inside visitors can admire a very rich iconostasis as well as Byzantine frescoes and mosaics. The main edifice of the cathedral is surrounded by the complex buildings, consisting of a bursa, library, bell tower and the House of the Kiev Metropolitan. The temple currently serves as a state museum. Saint Sophia’s Cathedral in Kiev has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List Kiev since 1990.
