Villa Vizcaya, now more known as the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, is an estate located on Biscayne Bay lagoon in Miami, Florida. From 1916, it was the winter residence of the industrialist and millionaire James Deering. A prestigious building, architecturally referring to traditional Mediterranean villas, is surrounded by beautiful gardens designed in the style of the Italian Renaissance. The gardens are decorated with numerous pools, fountains, sculptures, pavilions and colorful flower beds. At the end of the 1990s the historic building was converted into a museum. The villa's name comes from the Spanish province of Vizcaya.
