Indianapolis, commonly known as Indy, is a large American city in Marion County. It was founded in 1820 and is the capital of the US state of Indiana. For over a hundred years Indianapolis has been a host to motor speedway. The city is also an important scientific and educational center and a major transportation hub. The downtown of Indianapolis is dominated by modern skyscrapers, but there is also the state capital built in1888 and the characteristic brown building of the NCAA Hall of Champions that houses an exhibition and conference center.
