Adelaide is a large Australian city located on the River Torrens. Originally, these areas were inhabited by the Aboriginal Kaurna tribe. The city was founded by British settlers and named in honor of Queen Adelaide, wife of William IV of Hanover. Soon afterwards, Adelaide witnessed the settlement of newcomers from all over Europe, thanks to that an atmosphere of tolerance and religious freedom prevailed in the city, whereas the representatives of various countries introduced elements of their culture in their new homeland. For example, German emigrants founded the famous Barossa Valley vineyards near Adelaide. The city is an important industrial, scientific and sport center.
