Kremnica is a small mining town located in the Kremnica Mountains in Slovakia. In the Middle Ages gold and silver were mined here, and the coins were minted. The complex of late medieval castle buildings with double defensive walls is the landmark of the town. St. Catharine’s Church adorns the complex, it is also important to mention that St. Catherine is the patron saint of Kremnica. The temple has a watchtower, which now serves as a museum. 127 stone stairs lead to the top of the tower from which there is a beautiful view of the whole area – town buildings and mountain peaks.
