Varaždin is the town in north-east of Croatia, which in 18th century was the capital of the country. The town is famous for its Baroque architecture and the fortress, which is located in the town’s centre called the Old Town. The fortress was built in 16th century. It distinguishes itself from other historic buildings by a white color of walls. It was built in the Renaissance style, however, it was later reconstructed in accordance with the Baroque style. At present the fortress is one of the best known places in Varaždin, often visited by tourists.
