Rovinj is the Coratian town located on the Istria Peninsula on the Adriatic Sea. The town was established as early as in 7th century B.C. and its development falls on the Roman times. Since the 13th century Rovinj was governed by the Venetians - at that time the town was built up and fortified. The appearance of present day Rovinj shaped itself in the times of the Austrian Empire. Narrow, cobbled streets lead up and down. At their sides there are small tenement houses. Rovinj is an interesting place for those who like this kind of architecture.
