We may come across beechwood, i.e. plant communities with the majority of beech trees, in Central Europe, most often in the lower parts of mountains. Almost complete lack of undergrowth is characteristic for beech forests, whereas in autumn the forest bed is mostly made of leaves that fall from trees.
