Dried fruits are a tasty and healthy snack and they perfectly substitute sweets. Although they are quite calorific, they are still full of valuable nutrients which can be normally found in fresh fruits. They have a unique flavor and for that reason they are an indispensible additive for cakes, ice cream and other desserts. It is a good idea to mix them with nuts and appease hunger with that mixture between main courses – especially during the periods of intense intellectual or physical work. Nevertheless, one must be careful if it comes to candied fruits, i.e. preserved in sugar syrup. They are delicious but they are more like sweets than healthy fruits.
