Plitvice Lakes National Park is the most popular and largest Croatian national park in terms of surface. It is located in the eastern part of the country, near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the park there are sixteen lakes at various altitudes, which are interconnected with each other by the cascades of waterfalls. Water takes on various hues ranging from emerald to blue, depending on the mineral composition and flora of each reservoir. Blue and turquoise lakes blend beautifully with the green lush vegetation, making the Plitvice Lakes National Park a must for tourists visiting the Balkans.
