Pennsylvania is located in the northeast of the United States and is the agricultural center of the country. Since the beginning of its existence, when this area was inhabited by quarks escaping Europe from religious persecution in the 17th century, agriculture was the most important branch of its economy. Today Pennsylvania is famous for its dairy farms, but it also produces cereals, potatoes, fruit and Christmas trees. Due to its agricultural character, Pennsylvania is known for mild green hills and characteristic buildings with red-painted walls. Some traditional pens have been converted into agri-tourist farms where visitors may feel like real farmers for a moment.
