Dachshund is a popular breed of dog that most probably originates from Germany. Its representatives have an oblong torso and short legs. From the late Middle Ages, they were used during hunting to drive animals or drive them out of their burrows. Today shorthaired, longhaired and wirehaired dachshunds are distinguished. The first – most often reddish or black with brown spots – are popular domestic dogs. Dachshunds are friendly, busy and sociable, but they are characterized by impetuosity and a tendency to bark at other animals.
