Aster is a seed plant that most commonly occurs in the zones of temperate climate. It is grown because of its magnificent, colorful flowers. Narrow and longitudinal petals of some aster species are arranged in the shape of a star, from which the name of this plant comes from. There are also Chinese varieties of aster that are reminiscent of peonies or chrysanthemums, inflorescences of which resemble fluffy, colorful spheres. Asters are quite easy to grow and look beautifully in garden flowerbeds, as well as in bouquets or flower arrangements.
