Rhododendrons, or azaleas, are plants in the heath family with beautiful pink-purple flowers. Shrubs can be grown in the garden, but they look best in the bosom of wild nature. Rhododendrons are a permanent element of the spring-summer landscape of the Carpathians. Their colorful carpets can be admired, among others, in the Retezat National Park, located in south-western Romania. The scenery of the Retezat mountains is also decorated with Swiss pine, dwarf pine, hawkweed and beech forests.
