Gerbera (Gerbera L.) - a genus of perennials belonging to the Asteraceae family. It occurs in the wild in Southeast Africa and Madagascar, and in tropical regions of Asia and Tasmania. It has about 40-50 species. The plant is named after the German botanist Traugott Gerber. A typical species is Gerbera linnaei Cass.
