The Tatra lake, situated in a glacial cauldron, "looks down on" Morskie Oko. It got its name from the shadows cast by the peaks and from Pleurocapsa polonica, the cyanosis found in the water that gives the lake a dark, almost black color. <br />
The beauty of the Black Pond can only be captured by walking along its shoreline.
