The fishing town of Gudhjem is located on a rock and it is an important point on the map of the Danish island of Bornholm. The town has two ports and is primarily known for smoked herring. Gudhjem is characterized by its unique atmosphere, narrow streets, traditional buildings with red roofs, with chimneys of smokehouses that are seen here and there. In the summer the town is visited by tourists and sailors who moor their vessels in the granite harbor. Part of the harbor is reserved for the ferry that plies regularly. Visitors to Gudhjem may spend time in restaurants, bars, shops and charming guesthouses.
