Head Light is a historic lighthouse, which today serves the function of a maritime museum. Lighthouses were meant to direct ships to an open ocean. Today the lighthouse in Portland is an interesting tourist place. Nearby waves wash against the coast creating an amazing atmosphere. A common phenomenon that occurs in this area is fog. Because of fog many ships ended their sea adventure on rocks, never reaching the port. Tourists value the Head Light mostly because of beautiful landscapes nearby.
