Fort Amber is located several kilometers from the city of Jaipur in the state of Rajasthan in north-west of India. It is the complex of defensive and palace buildings that were erected by rajputs – representatives of Indian noble families inhabiting central and northern India. The fort was built at the end of 16th century at a place, where the similar architecture had already existed. The name – in spite of appearances – does not refer to the amber color of the construction but comes from the name of goddess Amba.
