Rome is the capital of Italy, located in the central part of the country on the River Tiber. Trajan’s Forum is one of the tourist attractions of Rome, it dates back to the 1st century A.D. It is the largest forum of Rome – Basilica Ulpia was one of the edifices that used to be located there and its ruins can be still seen today. In the 15th century the Church of the Most Holy Name of Mary (Italian: Santissimo Nome di Maria al Foro Traiano) was built at the Trajan’s Forum. Today there is the 16th-century Church of St. Mary of Loreto (Italian: Santa Maria di Loreto) near the forum. Both temples have almost identical domes that dominate the area. There is also the famous Trajan’s Column in the neighborhood of the churches. It was built in A.D. 113 to commemorate emperor Trajan’s victory in the Dacian Wars.
