The historic region of Transylvania is located in the central part of Romania. The town of Sighișoara on the Târnava Mare River is situated in the region. The town can pride itself on well-preserved medieval architecture that still has the features of a fortress. Apart from the 14th-century fortress and fortified walls, there is the 64-meter Clock Tower – the town’s landmark built in the 16th century. The historic houses in the town’s center are roofed with characteristic red-brown roofs. Sighișoara organizes the Medieval Festival every summer.
