Frankfurt am Main is a German city located at the foot of the Taunus mountain range, on both sides of the river Main. The first written records concerning the city come from the 8th century and since that time the city has been writing its history thanks to artistic and political events as well numerous commercial ties. Today Frankfurt is an important transport hub and financial center. There are headquarters of numerous banks and the stock exchange. Majority of the historic buildings situated in Frankfurt are temples: there are Catholic and Evangelical churches as well as synagogues. Frankfurt Central Station and at least some of countless museums and galleries are also worth seeing. The 19th-century Eiserner Steg bridge is one of the favorite places of those in love. It spans two districts – Sachsenhausen and Old Town.
