The City Park in Budapest called Városliget is willingly visited by strollers. It covers the area of 100 hectares, including an artificial lake, green alleys with rows of trees, a zoo and amusement park. The park also hosts playgrounds, a complex of swimming pools, Transport Museum of Budapest and Heroes’ Square with statues of the most significant Hungarian leaders. In a more secluded part of the park there is a statue of a mysterious, hooded figure. It is a chronicler, commonly called Gallus Anonymus, whose identity has never been determined. Nevertheless, his records concerning the events from the 12th and 13th centuries contributed enormously to the reconstruction of the Hungarian history.
