Paris is one of the world’s famous cities. Tourists are fascinated with the Eiffel Tower, a large collection of art housed in the Louvre, French cuisine with wine, cheeses and baguettes as well as the artistic districts. Many people visiting the capital of France love the city for its local color, which is best observable only in the places that are not frequently visited by tourists – the squares, parks, quiet restaurants, i.e. under the roofs of Paris. The first French romantic musical comedy directed by Rene Clair in 1930 had the same title. The film tells the story of characters from Paris suburbs and is somewhat innovative as it touches upon the subject of underclass life. It is also the first French film that became internationally recognized.
