Visby is a port town on the north-western shore of Gotland, a large Swedish island located in the Baltic Sea. Visby is called the City of the Roses, as due to warm climate there are plenty of rose bushes. However, in the vicinity of the marina the smell of flowers gives way to the characteristic aroma of wood preservatives used for wooden fences and façade elements. During the low season Visby is a clean and peaceful settlement. In the summer, however, the town is dominated by tourists who have at their disposal beautiful beaches and an impressive number of medieval monuments.
