Naxos is one of the most beautiful towns in the Mediterranean. It is situated on a rocky island of the same name in the Greek Cyclades Islands. Naxos is the largest and most fertile island of the archipelago – there are two sources of water that other islands lack. For centuries residents of Naxos have made their living out of horticulture, vineyards and potatoes famous throughout Greece. Moreover, in the nearby quarries very precious marble is mined and for that reason the islanders enjoyed prosperity and did not strive for the development of tourism. Nevertheless, tourists still come to the island in search of ancient monuments and to hike the rocky hills, but you will not find crowded beaches or huge hotels there, which is an undeniable advantage for many people.
