Azay-le-Rideau is a French town in the Loire Valley famous for its Renaissance château, which once belonged to Gilles Berthelot, mayor of Tours. The château was built in the shape of the letter L and it has impressive corner towers topped by spires. The château was built on an island in the Indre River, which is a tributary of the river Loire. The silhouette of the edifice is reflected in the water surface and there is a large English style park nearby. This historic property in now accessible to visitors and its interiors are decorated with, among others, valuable Flemish tapestries.
