Schaffhausen is the eleventh-century town in northern Switzerland situated on the river Rhine. This medieval town is dominated by the Munot fortress. The castle hill overlooks the river gorge and the largest waterfall in Europe – Rheinfall. Among the Old Town historic buildings there are the eleventh-century monastery of All Saints, Benedictine monastery and historic town houses with colorful richly decorated facades and characteristic bay windows. There are cycling paths and charming promenades along the river Rhine.
