The Palace of Parliament, a building located in the capital of Romania – Bucharest, is one of the largest public utilities in the world. This eclectic palace was designed to symbolize the power of Nicolae Ceauşescu. In order to prepare space for the construction of the monumental People's House, 40,000 inhabitants were displaced in 1980, as well as nearly 30 temples and many private houses were demolished. The Romanian parliament has twelve floors and eight underground floors. Inside, there are 1100 rooms, four restaurants, three libraries and as many as 480 crystal chandeliers.
