Salzburg is situated on the river Salzach in the north-eastern part of Austria and close to the border with Germany. The city is particularly popular with tourists from all over Europe, especially winter sports fans. Salzburg is famous for its beautiful old town, many historic monuments representing different architectural styles, thanks to which it is called the "Rome of the north", and numerous cafes.
