Ecuador is a country located in South America on the Pacific Ocean. Quito is the capital of the country, it is the city located in the valley of the Guayllabamba river on the slopes of volcanoes. It has a well-preserved old town, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978. The historic buildings in the center of Quito, once inhabited by the wealthiest citizens, represents mainly the colonial style. There are many temples, the oldest of which date back to the second half of the 16th century.
