Kyoto is a Japanese city located on the island of Honshu. It was established between the rivers Kamo and Katsura, it is surrounded on three sides by mountains. Formerly, Kyoto was the seat of the emperor. The city is famous for its many Buddhist temples, shinto shrines, vast palace and garden complexes. The Zenrin-ji Temple, also known as Eikan-do, is one of the most frequently visited places in Kyoto. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, which – especially in autumn – are distinguished by their amazing colors and evening illuminations. There is a pond with a bridge on the premises of the temple.
