Hartfort is the capital of the state of Connecticut located in New England, in the central part of the state. Together with the nearby city of Springfield forms the metropolitan area called the "knowledge corridor" due to a large number of universities located in this area. In Hartfort there are also the main branches of many insurance companies, including Travelers, Aetna and The Phoenix, however, in recent years some companies have decided to move their headquarters to other cities. Among the most important buildings in Hartford there are the modernist Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Building and 19th-century Old State House with a gold-leafed dome. In the city tourists can also visit the Mark Twain House.
