Central Park is the name of the vast green areas located in the heart of Manhattan, one of the boroughs of New York. Central Park covers an area of 341 hectares. The development of neglected marshlands started in 1857. Apart from trees, shrubs and water reservoirs, the park has alleys and paths for walkers, cyclists and runners, as well as playgrounds, tennis courts, a zoo and two ice rinks. The English-style park is surrounded by Manhattan's skyscrapers, one of the most important symbols of New York.
