Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. The first settlement was probably established here in the Copper Age. For centuries the city has been considered a sacred place for the followers of the leading monotheistic religions, which is why a significant part of Jerusalem's income comes from the pilgrims and tourists. Within the 16th-century walls of the Old City, there is the Christian Quarter with the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, the Jewish and Armenian Quarters, and the most populous – the Muslim Quarter. The Temple Mount with the Golden Dome on the Rock dominates the Old City of Jerusalem.
