The center of Warsaw – known in Polish as Śródmieście – is located on the left bank of the Vistula river. It consists of as many as twelve housing estates, but its most important part is the North Downtown with characteristic skyscrapers, Warsaw Central Station and the Palace of Culture and Science. The Old Town of the capital was rebuilt after the Second World War and is still one of the most picturesque corners of Warsaw. Reconstructed, historic tenements and the presentable Castle Square remind us of the rich history of the city.
