Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic, located in the central part of the country on the Vltava River. The first settlement in this place was founded in the 9th century by the first Czech rulers from the Přemyslids dynasty. Today Prague is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and its historic center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many old legends and traditions are linked to the city and some of them tell the story of a wise rabbi Löw, who is credited with, among others, the creation of the golem faithfully executing orders of his master and defending Prague Jews. It is also said that rabbi Löw owed his old age to the fact that his cleverness surpassed even death that could not take away his life for a long time.
