Easter tradition of coloring eggs is related to numerous symbolic meanings. In many cultures an egg is a symbol of a new life. It is related to real functions of eggs – young birds hatch from them. It is possible thanks to a specific structure of an egg: a shell protects against injuries, yolk provides an embryo with nutritious substances, and egg white stores essential liquids. In order to keep an embryo in a proper position it is held by spiral bands called the chalazae. All these features enable a new life to be born.
