Symbolism of an Easter lamb dates back to the old ages and is older than Christianity itself. In Judaism a lamb was a sacrificial animal and sacrificing it before the face of God was considered to be the expression of deepest gratitude. In Christian tradition a lamb is the incarnation of Jesus Christ who, according to the evangelists, sacrificed his life to redeem believers. Theologians consider this sacrifice as the supreme one and for that reason the symbol from the Old Testament refers perfectly to the events from the New Testament.
