Ha Long Bay is located in the northern part of Vietnam. There are over 1900 islands in the bay area. Only some of them have their name, and only a few are inhabited. Most of the native people live and work on boats and rafts. Lime, vertical rocks towering over water are the characteristic feature of the local landscape. Rock columns are surrounded by tropical and mangrove forests. There are spectacular coral reefs in the waters surrounding the islands. The bay is visited by tourists who may admire the area in boats and kayak, exploring numerous caves, grottoes and narrows. According to the local legends, the Ha Long Bay was created by dragons, which are believed to live in the neighborhood until the present day.
