Pocket watch was invented by Peter Henlein as early as in 1510. Due to the place where it was invented and its specific cylindrical shape it was called "Nuremberg egg". This type of a watch was used until the outbreak of World War I. Soon after that the watches were equipped with mechanical drive and in the 1960’s watchmakers started working on new models of quartz watches. The first electronic watch could have been purchased at the beginning of the 1970's.
