The ruins of Beckov in Slovakia are impressive in terms of their size. The first mention of the castle dates back to 13th century. Throughout its long and abounding history the castle changed hands and was ruled by various masters and noble families, however, it was never surrendered to foreign invaders and even the Turkish forces had to give in and leave the fortifications during the invasion in 16th century. It is worth coming here in July – a castle celebration is organized then and among the events visitors may see conquering the fortress.
