Bilbao is the largest city of the Basque Country, located in the north of Spain, and the main economic, cultural and scientific centre of the region. The city’s panorama is dominated by a 41-storey skyscraper, designed by a world-famous architect César Pelli. The skyscraper is called Torre Iberdrola and is 165 meters high – it is the sixth highest building in Spain. Its construction lasted four years and was finished in 2011. Today the building hosts a five-star hotel, conference center, office space and a parking area for over 700 vehicles. Torre Iberdrola is the highest construction of the Basque Country and the pride of Bilbao, the authorities of which are famous for hiring well-known architects.
