Region of Basilicata is located in southern Italy. The region is divided into two provinces: Potenza and Matera. It is dominated by mountainous landscapes interspersed by valleys in which farming as well as breeding of sheep and goats develop. The town of Valsinni is located in the region of Basilicata. The more modern part of the town is situated in the valley, whereas historic buildings are located on the hill. The history of Valsinni dates back to the 11th century, which is confirmed by archeological excavations as well as ruins and remnants of ancients walls. There is the 11th-century castle in the town, where the Italian poetess Isabella Morra lived.
