Portland is a two-million city located in the north of the United States, in the place where the river Wilamette flows into the river Columbia. The city was founded at the end of the 19th century and thanks to the port that is situated there, it started growing rapidly. Today the city has the reputation of the world’s most ecologically aware urban center and the most environmentally friendly metropolis. It has been all achieved thanks to the well-thought-out management of investments. There are as many as 240 city park and for that reason Portland is called the “Green City”. The city is also nicknamed “Rose City” due to the annual Festival of Roses that has been hosted here for over a hundred years. The other common nickname is the “City of Bridges” as there many bridges in the city.
