Jerusalem is the largest city and the capital of Israel. In the eastern part of the city there is the Temple Mount, towering over the Old Town. The Mount is the most sacred place of worship for the believers of the three religions: Judaism, Islam and Christianity. We can find many temples and other religious buildings here, among which the famous Dome of the Rock is particularly noteworthy. According to the biblical tradition, this is where Abraham wanted to sacrifice his son. The Muslim shrine is visible from afar thanks to its impressive golden dome. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is located nearby and it was built in the 7th century. The Wailing Wall is the other important construction located on the Temple Mount, it is also known as the Western Wall.
