Lyon is a French city founded by the Romans in the 1st century BC that lies at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers. The skyline of this incredible city can be admired from the observation tower of the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourviere that is located on a hill. Lyon has preserved historic monuments from the Roman era, including an amphitheater, baths and an aqueduct. The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is also noteworthy, its construction lasted from the 12th to 15th century. One of the most recognizable buildings in the city is the skyscraper belonging to the Crédit Lyonnais bank, it is commonly called the "pencil" due to its distinctive shape.
