Kobe is located on the Japanese island of Honshu, it is a large port city and the capital of Hyogo Prefecture. Kobe is famous for its beef of a unique taste and colorful Chinatown. The city also boasts its red, hyperboloid Kobe Port Tower with an observation deck at the height of 90 meters. In 1995 the city was destroyed by a magnitude 7 earthquake. Kobe was quickly rebuilt, however, the city has not regained its former glory. The urban architecture of Kobe clearly represents the influence of foreign styles. Many inhabitants of the city are foreigners.
