Petra is known for numerous structures hewn in rocks. One of them is Deir, that is Monastery. Its name dates back to the Byzantine period, when a Christian monastery was located at this place. The monastery is a beautiful, impressive and majestic construction, which was built probably in 1st of 2nd century A.D.
