Zagreb is the capital of Croatia and the metropolitan area is inhabited by over a million people. This European city boasts the beautiful Old Town of large historic significance. The Old Town consists of three districts: Upper Town, Lower Town and Kaptol. Among the landmarks of the Lower Town there are the Regency Esplanade Hotel built in 1925 and the statue of king Tomislav of Croatia. It is also worth seeing the Ban Jelačić Square with the statue of Josip Jelačić as well as the nearby Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary. The church of St. Mark is the most important building of the Upper Town, it is located in St. Mark’s Square.
